NO1

Special Nero Marquina from Spain

The Nero Marquina is a black coloured marble, with fine grains that has white veinage and fossil remains at occasional areas. This stone appeared as a result of recrystallization of calcareous reeves. It is described by a very dark black coloured and uniform background. Its main variations depend on the intensity of the black colour, the abundance of white veinage and white fossils that appear on the black surface. In terms of its hardness, the Nero Marquina is considered a hard natural stone. The Nero Marquina marble is explored east of Bilbao, at about 420 kilometers northeast of the Spanish capital Madrid. The Μarquina is considered a very popular marble for both designers and architects. From a practical point of view, the Nero Marquina is highly valued due to its excellent technical characteristics. That is, its application is possible for any interior project. However, it is not recommended for for exterior use, especially with a polished surface. The final effect of the surface of every stone is formed on the basis of its surface processing. For example, after bush-hammering, the Nero Marquina acquires a gray shade with black and white impregnations.

Polishing, on the contrary, will saturate the stone giving it more contrast and depth so the surface of the Nero Marquina will look simply bottomless. And, at last, when grinded and honed the stone becomes velvet with a muffled tone.
